4 Tips for Beating Chronic Lower Back Pain

Are you a mom who cringes at the thought of lower back pain?

For millions of people, the physical and emotional pain and stress of lower back pain can literally bring tears to their eyes.

Whether they were injured in the workplace, fell at home, hurt themselves moving, maybe even just turned the wrong way getting out of bed one morning, the pain can be relentless. Throw in the mental pain of being kept from doing lots of things that they love, lower back pain can end up ruling their lives for many years.

That said there are options on the table if you truly want to take the fight to lower back pain.

The question typically becomes, are you willing to put in the time and effort to do these?

Put Your Plan in Motion

So that you can take the fight to lower back pain, give consideration to these four tips:

  1. Treatment – What’s your treatment plan? If you don’t have one in mind, that’s a problem right there. You may very well have gone to your doctor, hoping he or she could prescribe medication and/or a treatment program to fix this problem. Unfortunately, you ended up spending money on medicine that simply didn’t do the job, leaving you back at square one. That said have you thought about going to a specialized pain treatment facility. Such facilities have helped countless patients over the years, help that basically was a last resort for many of these people. If you are in search of pinched nerve lower back treatment, a specialized center could be just the solution you’ve needed, allowing you to come up with a personalized treatment plan to directly deal with the problem. As anyone who has ever had a pinched nerve in the lower back can tell you, the discomfort can be high. For many people, both their professional and personal lives are seriously impacted, leaving them half the person they were before the problem began. Take some time to research pain treatment facilities, seeing if they are in fact the answer to your problem;
  2. Lifestyle – What kind of lifestyle have you been leading up to this point? If you’ve not been doing a very good job of taking care of yourself that may very well be the reason you’re in the predicament you are. As you get older, keep in mind that the body takes longer to heal from a rash of ailments. If you threw out your lower back for example, it is not going to return to its healthy state overnight. The same can be said regarding being overweight (see more below) and/or a couch potato. As you age, the body has trouble shedding pounds, just as exercise can be harder on the body. The simple fact of the matter is you need to watch your weight and also make sure you are getting ample exercise. If you don’t, you put more pressure on your body in order for it to function. Lastly, don’t expect to do at 50 what you did at even 30. Whether moving furniture or exercising, keep in mind that you need to avoid irritating muscles in your back, neck, legs etc. Once again, lifestyle choices go a long way in helping you beat chronic lower back pain.

Make Sure You Have a Healthy Diet

  1. Diet – It can become rather easy to lose focus on maintaining a healthy diet over the years. When that’s the case, your body can begin to revolt. One way for it to revolt is a lower back injury can take much longer to heal, not to mention end up causing more discomfort. Make sure you’re doing all you can to eat properly, allowing your body to maintain its healthiness. If you consume too many fatty foods, junk food etc. you will likely see your weight increase. Become too overweight and you put more pressure on various parts of your body, including your lower back;healthy
  2. Intelligence – Finally, don’t try and be Wonder Woman when it comes to the tasks you take on. For instance, if your back (or any other part of your body) has been bothering you for a while now, don’t make things worse by offering to help a friend move or lifting heavy items around the home. Don’t be afraid to say no or ask for help with such tasks. If your children are old enough to safely move items and/or clean around the home, ask them to pitch in and help. In the even your partner is as fit as can be, seek help from them when it comes to the heavy work at home. You can’t be the great mom you want to be if you’re laid up in bed or on the couch with constant lower back problems, so don’t put yourself in that position to begin with.

When it comes to beating lower back pain, are you one determined mom?
