5 Toddler Safety Tips

toddler safety

As the mom of an almost 2 year old, I have learned that life as you know it before kids quickly changes once they learn to crawl and walk! There are so many things they can get into that could cause them harm that the world becomes a scary place. You have to start watching every corner, every table, every cabinet.. there is no time to rest. For the longest time I simply had baby gates that restricted access to other parts of the house so I could always visually see my son. Well, the inevitable has happened and he can now open most of the gate! And the toddler safety proofing has began. Here are a few tips I have either already put into effect or know need to be done in the near future. 1) All cleaning supplies, medicine bottles and objects that are not safe to be … read more

Lip-tie

So, I just wrote a guest post for Mom Blog Society! I’m actually rather excited about it. But I wanted to go ahead and write a little background now that the post is live in case anyone is interested. My post was about different issues you can face when trying to breast feed. I wanted to do this post because I recently discovered the reason to why I was never able to have my son latch and be successful with breast feeding and I wanted to share it with others who may be facing similar issues. In the first few months of my sons life we went through a ton of heart ache. I desperately wanted to succeed in nursing him and not having to use a bottle. We tried everything we could with no luck. Dr.s, Lactation consultants, friends, no one could come to a conclusion as to why. … read more

March For Babies!

Every year many babies are born prematurely and have to fight for their life. I was lucky my son was born on time and healthy, but I have friends and family who had to spend many restless days with their precious babies in the NICU and the stress of not knowing what to expect. My own brother was close to 3 months early and as a result spent weeks in the NICU, suffered a collapsed lung, and our family went through the misery of not knowing what will happen next. Luckily he is now a happy and healthy adult. Many stories have this same happy ending due to donations from the March of Dimes! This is why I have chosen to March for Babies. I am a part of the team “Little Fuzys & the Funky Bunch” We will be walking in Richmond, VA on April 22! If anyone is … read more

Happy 1 year!

March 17, 2011 6 AM! One year ago today, I gave birth to the most perfect little angel in the world. Devin Alexander. I went through a LOT to get to that day. Years of trying, depression, a marriage on the fritz because of my obsession of wanting a child. It was a very trying experience and unless you have had to experience unexplained infertility for yourself, it is something that no one can ever truly explain to you. The day I found out I was pregnant, my entire life changed. I went from the funk of feeling like my life would never be complete to thanking the good lord above for finally giving me this opportunity! March 17,2011  born at 6:51PM  8lbs10oz 20 inches long I never knew that the day I had my child would be the best day of my entire life! Many people will tell you … read more

Thoughts of a worried momma

Devin will be 1 on Saturday! this year has flown by so quickly! I feel like it was just last week I was in that hospital bed gritting my teeth and pushing through the contractions.. then holding this beautiful 8lb10oz, 20″ long bundle of joy. Now I am sitting here watching him walk around the living room carrying his blanket, the whole 25 pounds and 31″ of him! It’s crazy how time flies! It has been a great, uneventful year of no sickness, only 1 doctor visit outside of regular checkups and that was for an ear infection. that all changed yesterday. I had an appointment for him and while there the nurse dropped her clipboard in the floor. Of course the sound makes you jump. She instantly noticed that the sound did not affect Devin at all. She brought it up and asked about his hearing. Well I had … read more
