So, what types of items would you include in your drawer? There are so many fun products that it is hard to choose! I received five inital products to try and tell you about before hand to give you some ideas on my favorites before you start building. I received the Smart Scoop Ice Cream Scoop, an Egg Separator, Double Sided Flip Measuring Spoon, a Utensil Pot Clip, and the Safe Cut 4-1 can opener.
These may not look like anything specifically striking, but let me tell you, they will all be staying in my drawer! The ice cream scoop will be great for some fun summer treats. It makes nice, round scoops of ice cream and the opening action easily releases with a simple opening of the spoon. The can opener, lets just say its not in my “emergency power loss kit” like my others. This one is way more useful than just when my power opener is out. I can open sodas that are closed too tightly with the cap twister, open cans, pop an ice cold beer and more. This is my top recommendation to add to your drawer! Check out this delicious recipe below to see how I used my other Good Cook Kitchen Drawer tools to help get your mind set on what items you will consider must haves!
For many many years I have sworn by chicken and noodle soup or egg drop soup from our local Chinese restaurant when it comes to the perfect food when sick. Something about the piping hot chicken stock and easy to digest eggs or noodles just make it the perfect comfort food for sore throats and clearing stuffy noses. But sometimes I just don’t have time to go pick up a container when I need it most, say 3 am after sleeping all day? So I decided to create my own! Using Good Cook tools has made this easier than ever!
- Lipton Extra Noodle Box Soup (one pack)
- 5 cups of water
- 1 tsp creole seasoning
- 3 egg whites
- 1 egg yolk
Boil 4 cups of water in a pot. (The pack will state 3 cups but trust me use 5 or you will have no broth)
Once the water is boiling, add the package of noodle soup and stir well. Add in 1/2 teaspoon of creole seasoning. This is not normally found in Chinese soup, but I find the little spice kick helps open your sinuses and gives a great boost of flavor! The Good Cook Double Sided Flip Measuring Spoon is the perfect measuring device because it has 4 different measurements in one tool! Not to mention you can turn it upside down and flip the silicone cup to make sure you get every bit into the recipe!
If you have Good Cook Utensil Pot Clip, you can easily store your spoon on the side of the pot for a mess free stove while you get your eggs ready!
While that is cooking, get your eggs ready. Using your nifty egg separator, separate the 3 egg whites and 1 yolk into a bowl. I use to use the shells to separate but this is so much easier!
With the noodle soup still at a rolling boil, use a fork and drizzle the eggs slowly into the pot. The fork allows you to control the egg drops easier and not have large lumps of egg. The egg will cook almost instantly! Slowly stir the mixture for about 2 minutes. Serve hot and enjoy!
