Hoover WindTunnel Air sucks-literaly!

I have to be honest. I really slack in the vacuuming part of house cleaning. I do not like to vacuum! For one, I hate the sound. It is loud and obnoxious! I feel like I have to go over the carpet forever just to get it clean. Not to mention the aggravation of cleaning the corners and along the baseboards where the vacuum just can’t reach. It is time consuming and  am not a very patient person. My husband always jokes that I need to get one of those robotic vacuums where I only have to push a button. Wouldn’t my dogs and baby just love that!

Hoover WindTunnel Air

I was recently given the opportunity to review the Hoover WindTunnel Air Bagless Upright vacuum. I really loved the sleek look of it and wanted to put it to the test. The test being could it save me time by only having to vacuum once to have the room cleaned instead of going over it multiple times! I had already heard good things about this vacuum so I wanted to see it in action. I opened the box to see what exactly I would have to put together (the part of new items I dread!) Virtually nothing had to be done! I simply snapped the handle onto the vacuum and slipped the accessories into their place on the back. Very simple!

To get a better opinion of how well it worked, I actually vacuumed with my current vacuum first. Once it looked clean and I considered myself finished, I plugged in the WindTunnel and vacuumed the “clean” floor. To my surprise it picked up over a quarter of a canister full. I don’t know whether to be amazed by the Hoover or to be sickened by the fact that my old vacuum left behind that much stuff when I thought I was cleaning! No wonder my asthma is bad!

With handle extendedThe WindTunnel Air has a lot of features that I really love. The most simple is the extendable handle. This is great for households like mine who have a mixture of tall and short members. Everyone can use it comfortably and with a simple pull of a lever it lifts up and down. Secondly is the hose. It is able to extend quite a bit! I was able to clean

Extremely long hose!

my ceilings, fans, blinds, and did not have to lift the vacuum off the floor even once. I do not have stairs since I am on a single level, but I can almost bet if I did, I could leave the vacuum on the floor and the hose would extend enough to reach the top step. When done, it just shrivels right back up. It did take me a minute to figure out how to use it since you have to unhook the connection from the vacuum and then clip the hose onto it to use it. Another pretty cool feature is the ability to turn the spinning brush on or off. I’ll be honest, I haven’t really figured out if there is a time to use the brush or what the procedure is for it.. but heck it’s a feature none of my other vacuums have had! There is a button that can turn it on and off. When it is on, the brush spins as long as the handle to the vacuum is lowered. It is supposed to cut off when the handle is returned upright though I have noticed it cuts off before it completely reaches the upright position so I have to remember to keep the handle down some.

Since it is bagless, it has a canister. It is clear so you can see when it is full. there is a simple unlock button to remove it from the vacuum. Then all you have to do is hold it over the trash and hit a button that opens the bottom and empty the contents into the trash. there is a HEPA filter as well as a washable filter that is easy to clean which is a great money saver! The only drawback is that the canister is a bit on the small side and will need to be dumped in between rooms if they are a decent size room. But I can completely deal with that for how great the rest of it is!

Small sized canister

Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with my Hoover WindTunnel Air vacuum! It is by far the best one I have ever used and I no longer dread vacuuming! Even better, my husband likes it enough that HE will even vacuum! Now that alone is a great accomplishment! He says it has enough power to be his “mini shop vac” so I guess that means he gives it a thumbs up! I know the price can be a little alarming to a “Thrifty Momma” but after using this, I say it is worth it! Some things really do fit the ‘You pay for what you get’ motto. If you are looking for a new vacuum, make sure to check this one out.

I loved the title, but I am also seriously in need of a new vacuum – and one that works! This sounds like it’s right up my alley and I’m definitely willing to pay for performance since my last three vacuums bit the dust after a year.
