Well, obviously I am a little late getting this post up, but a lot has been going on this past week and to top it off my entire house is battle sickness. So, not fun! But, on the bright side, we did have a rather enjoyable night last weekend preparing for the Oscars! Thanks to Wholly Guacamole and Daily’s Cocktails, my husband and I had an “at home date night” and were red carpet ready!

My Red Carpet Ready kit consisted of 3 Wholly Guacamoles, 3 Wholly Guacamole Salsas, a $20 gift card to purchase Daily’s Cocktails, 2 super cute glasses, and even a red carpet! To celebrate the night, we had plenty of snacks, a few drinks, and I even decided to put on a dress I had shoved in my closet for a ‘special ocassion’ and walk on my red carpet! Then we sat back and watched a movie together after the kids were in bed. I’d have to say, it was a rather enjoyable night!

I have to admit, I am not much of a guacamole person. It’s never really been my thing. But my husband loves it. I had always just tried original guacamole and I now see THAT is where I messed up! I was able to try a few of Wholly Guacamole’s products and I was very impressed! My all time favorite was the spicy guacamole. I am a hot and spicy person and this was perfect! It had a very strong bite to accompany the smooth guacamole texture. Paired with tortilla chips, it was just outright delicious!

Daily’s Cocktails are a favorite of mine already. I don’t drink often, so purchasing these premixed pouches are very easy. I can keep some on hand, stick them in the freezer (they say 8+ hours, but I fin 5 or 6 to be perfect) and then simply pour it into a glass and I have pretty close to a restaurant style drink in my own home with NO work. They have a lot of varieties to choose from listed on their website including 3 new light versions. Unfortunately, my local Walmart had hardly any to chose from and none of the light versions. I was able to pick up a few peach daiquiri and pina colada pouches after I scavenged the store and finally found them hidden away on a bottom shelf. They really need to fix this because these are delicious and a very reasonable price and would be high sellers if people could actually find them! I know I would like to purchase more in the future if they decide to expand on flavors they stock!

As for our date night, after getting all glammed up and walking my red carpet (yes, my husband really thought I had lost it when I told him I was putting on my fancy dress and HE had to take my picture!) we sat back and watched a movie. I wanted to watch one that was nominated for an Oscar this year, but wasn’t able to get my hands on one. So, we sat back and watch one of last years winners instead. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is a really good movie. If you haven’t watched that yet, I highly recommend checking it out. It’s no surprise it won best editing in 2012!
