School may be back in session, but that does not mean play time needs to end. In fact, it is even MORE important to make sure your little ones have time to play during the school year as they spend so much time cramped behind a small desk. Physical activity is important to keep those brains sharp and bodies fit. But how do you encourage kids to get out and play? Especially teens who may just want to sit in front of a video game system? You get them an awesome toy that MAKES them move. Need a little recommendation? Look no further than the Rockboard RBX scooter! We recently received this item for review purposes from Rockboard and it was a huge hit with my 13 year old!
So what is a Rockboard Scooter exactly? Well, its a scooter of course. But not just any scooter. It is NOT powered by pushing your feet like scooters of years past. That’s just too much like work for kids these days. They need a little more ambitious product. With Rockboard, you get this extremely “fancy” looking scooter with rocking propulsion. Once on, you simply rock back and forth to stay moving. It’s a little more involved than you may think encouraging great balance, coordination, and engaging the body in movements they aren’t quite used to producing. But it is addicting and fun!
When the Rockboard Scooter first arrives, it will need a little assembly. Nothing scary at all. I was able to put it together in 10 minutes without any help. You will need to attach the handle bars and front wheel. The instructions are easy to read and the tool you need is already included in the box. (do make sure it is tightened well though, otherwise the handle bars shift a bit and you will find your kid on their butt in the road….. ooops)
Once together it is ready to go. We received the black scooter and it i pretty slick looking! The bright blue designs are really eye catching and the overall design of the entire scooter will definitely have others asking where you got such a thing!
On closer look, you can see the amazing propulsion system. There is a chain system similar to a bicycle, but with no pedals. As you rock back and forth on the board, the chains circle around and help to propel the scooter without the need for pedaling or using the feet to push off the ground. There is even a great kick stand to keep it standing when not in use. Once the kids get going, they won’t want to stop. But when they need to stop, there is also a great hand brake system as well!
Just check out the Rockboard in action. (while we did not have a helmet on during review, I highly encourage you to protect your little ones heads when they ride this as with any bicycle or scooter. I know… bad momma!) Can you believe this scooter can hold up to 220 pounds?! Try to remember we re teaching the kids to be active, so lets not take their toys… but, when they are in school… all bets are off! That scooter will hold you just fine!
